Happy New Year! 2009!

Nine years ago tonight I met Matt at a singles dance at Saltaire. We met after midnight. I was pretty outgoing at that time.. I wouldn't just wait for a guy to ask me to slow-dance. I had been complaining to my sister & my friend that no one was asking me to dance. Just then a slow song came on. I decided that I'd just go ask someone. On my way Matt stopped me and asked me to dance! It was fate.. or I'd like to think it was. :) We danced and talked and laughed! I thought he was so hot (I was 19)! At the end of the song he asked me for my phone number! Of course I gave it to him. The very next day he called me and asked me out for that night! He wasn't wasting time. Our story just goes on from there. We spent as much time with each other or on the phone with each other as we could. Two months after we met we were engaged. Seven months after we met we were married! New Years Eve always brings me wonderful memories of our courtship! :)

Family pictures..

I got everything set up in my living room to take some family pictures. Got myself ready, got both girls ready in dresses with hairdo's and bows and tights and all, had Matt get ready... by the time we were all ready Abby was not cooperative!! So, in essence we didn't get a very good family picture. We'll have to try again sometime. Thanks to Tiffany (neighbor) for being patient in waiting for us to be ready.. and for helping us to try and get a decent picture. At the end of it, we have a few cute pictures.. so I'll share! :)

Santa!

We went to a party today for tooelemommies.com. It was the kids Christmas party. Abby had a blast, of course! Well, Santa came to the party too! He was a wonderful Santa! Abby was afraid of him, but awfully interested too. Lucy didn't mind him at all. Here's our pictures!

Blessing

We blessed Lucy on 11/30 in our ward. We had a busy day. We had a breakfast before the blessing. We went to the ward and Matt blessed Lucy. He almost blessed her with the name Lucy Jean Bonham - not Lucile Jean Bonham! But, he caught himself and corrected with Lucile Jean Bonham. :) It was a beautiful blessing. He blessed her to have a strong testimony. To find a spouse to take her to the temple someday. He blessed her to be a good example to others around her. It was special. He was so proud to be her father and to be blessing her. Right after sacrament meeting we drove down to Orem, UT for my nephew Lukas to be ordained deacon.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, I thought I'd write a note today since my parents are coming into town tomorrow and then my sister and her family on Thursday. I assume I'll be so busy visiting that I won't have much time to write. Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are able to spend the day with family and friends. Since it's a time to be thankful for what we have I suppose I'll write a few things I'm thankful for.
1. My husband, Matt! He has been so supportive of me and I love him dearly!
2. My kids - Abby & Lucy! Even though today was a tougher day, I still love them so much and they bring me so much joy.
3. My family. My parents, siblings, nephews/nieces, my in-laws, my sisters-n-laws and their families. It's so great to have them in my life - and in my children's lives!
4. The Gospel. Without it I don't know where I would be in my life. I'm sure it wouldn't be good.
5. My friends. There are really too many to even list out. I am grateful for the many friendships on many levels. From my best friend to my acquaintances.
I suppose I could go on forever, but I won't. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

P.S. Basement

Our basement is finally finished and livable! We got carpet on Saturday. We've moved a lot down there - including all the toys!! It's great to have more room in our home. :) We love it!

'Tis the Season!!

For having parties! I'm hosting a Sole Desires (shoes) and Scentsy (wickless candles) open house at my home on December 4th from 6:30-8:30 pm. Bring your kids to play downstairs while we visit! I'll have some light refreshments. Remember to bring a friend!! Let me know if you need my address! I hope to see you there (unless you live outside of Utah - then maybe I'll forgive you for not coming! ha ha). Here's the websites: www.scentsy.com/sylviasharp & www.shoeparty.com (Bianca's selection). If you can't make it, but want to order something just let me know and I'll get it to you! :)

Twilight!

I went with my mother-in-law, Angi, Joni, & Christina to see Twilight today. All I can say is WOW! I loved it. I actually liked Edward, I wasn't so sure about him at first. It was really good. I'm going to get my book out and re-read it. (I didn't want to before I saw the movie). Anyway, if you haven't seen the movie - go see it! If you haven't read the book - read it! I will say that you do get so much more from the book, more of what Bella is thinking and feeling. That's why I want to read it again. Anyways - it was a fun girls day out. Matt stayed home with Abby and Lucy! He is such a great dad. I couldn't believe it - he even cleaned the downstairs for me!! I'm lucky to have him! :)

Lucy is 2 months!

Lucy had her 2-month doctor appointment on Wednesday this week. She is at the 50th percentiles for everything; height, weight, head circumfrance. Obviously she doesn't have the "Erekson" head. Abby's head at 2 months was in the 90th percentile. ;) Lucy is just perfect - of course! She did get her shots. They made her cry, but I fed her a bottle right afterwards and I had already given her tylenol to help with the pain. She did fine for a few hours. I even went to my mother-in-laws to can jam. Lucy slept the whole time while we were canning. Then once we were done she woke up and was crying so hard. It was sad to watch her cry that hard. We could tell her legs were hurting her. After about an hour of continuous crying I decided that maybe I should just put her in her car seat and get in the car. In the car seat she wouldn't be moving her legs as much and maybe the motion of the car would put her to sleep. She didn't like the car seat at first, but as soon as I started driving she was quiet and started to fall asleep. I was glad that she was soothed. Luckily she hasn't had a crying fit like that again.

NKOTB!

NKOTB!

If you grew up in the early 90's - you'll know that stands for the New Kids on the Block!!! They are back together and doing a tour... last night they had a concert in SLC at the E-Center! Back in 1990 (could have been 1991) I went to their concert in Maryland with my sister Beqi. It was my first concert. I was 10 or 11 yrs old! I was SO in love with Joey. It was only natural to want to go this concert!! I decided on Friday night to go!! Tiffany, Alice, and I went and had a blast!! Our seats were not that great, but it was still so much fun. We acted like we were 13 again.. dancing, singing, screaming, and yelling "I love you Joey!!". The NKOTB did a lot of their old songs and of course some of their new songs. With the old songs they even did the same dances they did back then. It was great! About a half hour before it ended we walked down 15 rows and sat in better seats for the rest of the concert (those people had left). It was such a blast - I'd do it again in a heartbeat! (The picture is from my cell phone!)

Potty training!

We are potty training Abby. For a little while she has been telling us when she's peed or pooped in her diaper to be changed. Last Thursday afternoon she went pee on the potty and I was overly excited and jumping up and down and screaming! She really liked my excited response so she did it again!! So I decided to jump into potty training! We are doing the 'naked' method. Abby is naked on the bottom half and just goes potty when she needs to (we're using diapers for nap time and bed time). Since Thursday afternoon she hasn't had one accident! She is doing so well. So today we put some loose shorts on her (that she is able to pull down and then back up). She did pretty well this morning so we put underwear on her. Well, she finally had an 'accident' - she pooped in her underwear. Right after she did it she came to me. I'm hoping this is a learning accident and she won't want to do that again. We will see! I'm just shocked and excited that she is doing so well on the potty.

Lucy is smiling!

Hair Cut!

My dear little Abby (2.5 yrs old) cut her own hair on Saturday night! She was playing in the bathroom, we were in the next room. All of a sudden I realize she is being really quiet.. not a good sign ever! I walk into the bathroom to see her cutting her hair. She's holding up the pieces she's cut - so proud of what she'd done! I almost started crying!!! (She also put on her lipstick)

4 weeks

I can't believe it's been four weeks since Lucy was born! I took Lucy to the doctor today for a weight check and she's finally back to her birth weight - 7lbs 9oz!! While we were in the waiting room there was another mom there and she was holding her big baby boy.. he was a cute little chunk! I got Lucy out of the carseat carrier and the other mom asked me how old Lucy was. I told her Lucy was 4 weeks today. She said that her big baby boy was 4 weeks and a few days old. So - Lucy is just a light-weight! Hopefully Lucy will just start gaining more & more! I'm used to chunky babies - Abby was a little chunk too! I sent out birth announcements to family, so I thought I'd put it on here for friends. :)

Monday, October 6, 2008

It's been a while since I posted.. so I thought I'd do it! Life sure is busy with 2 kids! My mom flew home on Saturday morning. It was so great having her here to hold Lucy while I took care of Abby or vice versa. Today was my first actual day of being a stay at home mommy to two beautiful girls! Overall I think it went well. We went on a walk (I got a double stroller - it's great!). We ran some errands. We got groceries at Walmart - it went pretty well. I haven't had the chance for a shower yet - but I will get cleaned up after my post. :)

Abby loves her little sister. She has to hold Lucy several times a day by herself (with me right there watching). She is always concerned where the baby is. In all this excitement Abby has decided that she doesn't need to take naps anymore. I keep trying to lay her down for a nap and an hour or so later I find her in her room playing by herself. I'm kind of sad (I enjoy nap time!), but I'm still planning on having Abby take 'quiet time' in her room.

Lucy is just such a good baby! She really only cries when she's hungry.. and I usually feed her before she gets to the crying stage. Lucy is sleeping 5-6 hours at night and during the day time I have to wake her every 2-3 hours to feed her. Last Friday at her appointment she had lost 2-oz. from the previous appt. I will take her again this Friday to get her weight checked. If she isn't gaining, the doctor will have me add formula to breast milk to get her to gain some weight!

Our little model - Lucy!

I met a wonderful photographer through an online group that I belong to - tooelemommies.com. She was looking for newborn models and I just happen to have a newborn! Cindy came to our house with her mobile studio. It was so relaxing and calm.. she didn't rush through it. I could tell from the session that the pictures were going to be beautiful!! She has already put up 4 pictures on her blog - http://reflectionsbycindy.blogspot.com/ Please go and look at them!! They are so cute.. but I'm not partial or anything. ;) I would definitely recommend her to anyone!! The whole experience was just so much different than going to a photo studio (like JC Penney or Inkley's).

Going through Abby withdrawls!

We were so lucky to have Abby go stay with Matt's parents over the weekend while we were in the hospital with Lucy. Sunday my mother-n-law called to see if she could keep Abby for us until my mom comes on Wednesday, just to help out. We of course said that would be great! So, my MIL and Abby came out yesterday to visit for a few hours during the day.. and they're on their way to visit today. I just have to say that I didn't think I would miss having Abby around so much! I am definitely going through withdrawls. I almost started crying yesterday when they got here. Matt is really going through withdrawls - he hasn't seen Abby since Friday night! It's been great to have the down time with Lucy and to help me recover. But, we're looking forward to having her home. Our house is so quiet without our loud little Abby! :)

Baby Lucy is here!

We had baby Lucy on September 19th at 1:40 pm. She was 7lbs 9oz and 21 inches long. She came out with a full head of hair. She's healthy and has a good little cry. We named her Lucile Jean Bonham. We are all home now. I had her by c-section, and I am recovering really well. Abby loved to see and hold her little sister when they came to see us in the hospital. Abby's had a blast with grandma & grandpa Bonham and her aunts and uncle too. :) Here's a few pictures for ya!

Baby news!

If you're looking for news... here's some for ya! I had a doctor appointment today. I've been so miserable all weekend, back pains, contractions, etc... so I went in today to see the doctor. I'm not dilating (of course). I told my doctor how miserable life has been (woe is me!). He told me that I should go into the hospital on Friday to have the baby delivered by C-section. We will go in on Friday morning and shortly after we'll be meeting our little Lucy! I am excited!! Abby will be staying with Matt's parents while we're in the hospital. I know she'll have fun with them. My mom is still coming on the night of the 24th for a week and a half to help out.. and I'm looking forward to her help! So now I just have to get my house ready and everything ready for the baby to come. Just odds & ends, nothing too big.

"Psych!"

Well.. Lucy played a little trick on me today. She made me think she was coming soon. Sorry if this is too much info.. :) I lost my mucous plug this morning so I called my nurse. She told me that if I had more than 6 contractions in an hour that I should go into the hospital to be checked out. I went about my morning.. cleaning, running errands, etc. I think because I was going I didn't realize how many contractions I was having. Abby went down for a nap at about 2:00pm. I sat down to watch a tv show while she was sleeping. Sure enough I had 5-6 contractions in 30 minutes. So, my neighbor Tiffany came over and took me to the hospital (while her husband sat at our house in case Abby woke up). Thanks to the Ence's - you guys rock!! :) They hooked me up to be monitored at the hospital and my contractions were coming pretty close together. After an hour or so they decided to keep me just a little longer. The doctor was thinking I was having contractions because I was dehydrated (I had a flu over the weekend). Tiffany ran home to watch Abby until Matt came or my mother-n-law came to get her. I was given an IV for fluids and that did help the contractions lessen. I also hadn't dilated at all. So, as soon as my IV was through they sent me home! I'm to come back if my water breaks or if my contractions become painful where I can't talk through them. If neither happens then I will have her on the 24th by C-section. So sometime within two weeks - Lucy will arrive! :)

September 24th or before?

My life is surrounding my pregnancy right now. That's life, I guess! I had an OB check yesterday. I'm getting down to the last few weeks. My doctor is going to deliver by c-section on the 24th. Baby Lucy is big. Today he said something that actually surprised me! He said that if I went into labor on my own and went to the hospital and was dilated to a 5 or so that he would let me do a VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section)!!!! It just kind of shocked me because the whole pregnancy we've talked about doing another c-section. He said that we will still tentatively schedule the c-section for the 24th, but if I happen to go into labor before then we would see. I didn't actually go into labor with my first pregnancy, so here's hoping that maybe I will with this one?
This week my mother-n-law came out two times to help me get ready for the baby. We cleaned and organized Abby's room. It had been a mess since I moved all her toys in there. We got a new dresser and moved the baby things into baby Lucy's room. We did all that on Tuesday. Then on Thursday she watched Abby while I had my doctor appointment. Then we just cleaned up the baby's room. It was so great to have her help! I am feeling more ready. :)

Big Sister!

In just about a month Abby is going to be a "Big Sister". We have tried to talk about baby Lucy to Abby as much as possible. Abby likes to lay her head on my belly and feel the baby moving. Lucy moves a lot when Abby is laying on my belly too! Well, we think Abby has kind of gotten the idea that baby Lucy is coming. This morning Abby pulled her shirt up and was sticking her belly out and saying "baby". Matt asked her, "where is baby Lucy?" Abby pointed to my belly. :) It was really cute. The other day she just came up and gave my belly a kiss too. I hope that the transition from one child to two will go as smooth as possible. We're looking forward to meeting baby Lucy in just about 4 weeks.

Baby Lucy is arriving September 17th!

So - I am most likely going to have baby Lucy on September 17th now! I talked to my nurse and asked if they would move my delivery date up since Lucy was so big in my ultrasound. She said that my due date according to the ultrasound would be September 21st and they wouldn't want me to go over (since I'll be having another C-section). So - that would mean we would deliver her on Sept. 17th! That is only 4 weeks from tomorrow. I can't believe how fast this time has gone by for me. We still have quite a bit to do to be ready for her to come. We're going to put together the nursery this weekend. (Right now it's the office). I am feeling great. Lucy is moving all the time. I love being pregnant.. it's just fun. Well, except for the few annoyances - like not sleeping well. Abby will be staying at her Grandma & Grandpa Bonham's house while we're in the hospital. Then her Grandma Terry will be coming out to stay for about a week after we get home from the hospital. We're looking forward to this fun and exciting time!

Family

My parents were out here for a week and a half. They just left this morning to drive to Billings, MT to visit my dad's parents. It was so fun to have them out here. First of all - my dad worked so hard and finished the basement for us! We will just have to paint and put carpet in. It is so fun to see it look so nice! I'll have to add some pictures to this post to show it off. :) We are going to paint and get carpet in November. We were sad to see them leave today, but are looking forward to getting back to 'normal' life.
While my parents were here we were happy to have Beqi & Scot and baby Scotlyn come stay with us for a few nights. Scotlyn is such a sweet little baby girl! I had forgotten how little they are when they are newborn. It made me excited and nervous all at the same time for Lucy to arrive. Beqi is such a good mom. Her and Scot are just loving each minute. Abby loved to have her baby cousin Scotlyn here. Abby kept giving her kisses and getting blankets for her. I think Abby will be a little helping mommy to her baby sister Lucy.

Ultrasound

I had a doctor appointment last Thursday. I was measuring a few weeks ahead of schedule so my doctor decided to have me get an ultrasound to see how big the baby is. I had my ultrasound yesterday. Everything is looking good on the baby. We saw hair! So, Lucy will probably be like Abby - born with hair. We'll just have to see what color hair Lucy has. The ultrasound tech said that Lucy could be about 5lbs 7oz right now (that's give or take a pound). Also, I am only 33 weeks along, but the size of the baby puts me at 34.5 weeks. I'm not sure if this means I will have Lucy sooner. Before the ultrasound my doctor said we'd probably deliver Lucy on September 24th, but it will be up to my doctor if he wants to move my delivery date closer. I'm okay with that. :) It was fun to see baby Lucy through the ultrasound. We can't wait for her to come into the world!

Swimming Lessons

Abby & I are taking a Mom & Tot swimming class at Deseret Peak Aquatic Center (near Grantsville). We attended 3 classes last week and have 5 classes this week! I will tell you that Abby is definitely a fish. She loves being in the water. She also LOVES to run away from mommy. So, we (I) like the parts of the lessons where we go in the deeper end of the pool (that way Abby can't run off because I'm holding her!). It has been a lot of fun. The plus side is that it has helped Abby get back on schedule with naps! Yeehaw!

Life goes by!

Time is flying by! I had a doctor appointment yesterday. Everything is going good with this pregnancy. I'm almost 31 weeks along now, so I have about 8-9 weeks left. :) I am feeling Lucy move all the time now. We are getting so excited to see what Lucy looks like - and just to have her here. I think Abby kind of understands what is happening. She likes to lay her head on my belly and feel Lucy move around. Abby also gives my belly kisses every so often. We'll hope that Abby loves having Lucy in our lives. Although my suspicion is that Abby will be a little helper.

My sister Beqi's baby arrived yesterday! Beqi and her husband Scot are adopting a sweet baby girl. She was born yesterday and they named her Scotlyn. I've seen a few pictures and she is adorable. It just gets me excited to have Lucy come. Beqi, Scot, and Scotlyn will drive back through Utah on their way home to Arizona - so we will get to have them stay with us a few nights. It will be fun!!

My parents are also coming to visit next week. My dad planned a trip out to come help us finish our basement. We have it about 70% finished right now. It will be so nice to have it complete! We'll need the room. It will be great to have them out here!

Baby's name

We finally decided on the baby's name. We'll name her Lucille Jean Bonham, and call her Lucy. Matt really liked the name Lucy and I liked it too. Matt let me decide on the middle name and after much thought decided on Jean. My middle name is Jean, which was named after my grandma, Norma Jean Holt (my mothers mother). Some families have 'trends' for naming their children - all starting with the same letter or whatnot. I suppose our 'trend' is to have the middle name of our children be named after a family member. Abby's middle name is Marcile - after Matt's grandma, Marcile Bonham (his fathers mother). We are so excited for our Lucy to come!! There's only about 10 weeks left.

Time flies!

I really can't believe how old my little Abby is getting. She is a polite little girl - she says "thank you" - "bless you" - and "excuse you" ALL the time. It is hilarious and absolutely adorable. Of course I'm biased, I'm her mommy! I was just watching Abby today and realizing how tall and big she is now. It's crazy how fast time just flies on by. I remember bringing her home from the hospital just over two years ago. Now I will be having another little girl in September. Baby Lucy! We are really excited to see what she looks like and if she is going to be like her big sister?! I have found a photographer who is wanting to take pictures for her portfolio of newborns - like under 2 weeks old. She takes pictures that almost remind me of Anne Geddes. Anyway, she is offering a free sitting and a free package (with 6 or so pictures). We'll take Lucy in the first week or so after she's born for pictures - I'm so excited!! I'm still so new at this blogging thing - I will try to write sooner than later. ;)

Blogs - a way of life!

Blogs seem to be the way of life these days! I actually started a blog on myspace, but I don't think just anyone can view it. So, I thought I'd start a blog here and share with family and friends.
